Winwyn Marquez sought permission from Dabarkads to host the revamped ‘Eat Bulaga’

Winwyn Marquez, the actress and beauty queen, took the initiative to inform Tito Sotto, Vic Sotto, Joey de Leon, and the legitimate Dabarkads about her decision to accept the offer to host the revamped “Eat Bulaga” out of respect for their legacy. Marquez sought the assistance of TV5’s “E.A.T.” staff and revealed during an ambush interview at a movie premiere that she asked for the former “Eat Bulaga” hosts’ permission, as reported by Inquirer Bandera.

“I wanted to ask for their permission before accepting the offer to be a guest co-host. Some of them replied, and they understood my reasons. There was no problem. They were supportive,” Marquez said.

Although Marquez used to guest co-host in the old “Eat Bulaga” show with the help of TVJ, she admitted that she has no contact with the comedy trio. However, she emphasized that the legal battle between the former hosts and production company TAPE Inc. is their own matter.

“It’s between them and whatever is happening. They didn’t explain anything to me. They just told me to enjoy it,” she added.

While it remains uncertain if Marquez will become a regular host, she expressed her commitment to fulfilling her duties on the noontime show.

“I have no problem if I become a regular host because I’m constantly working with them. Maybe there is still no final decision on what will happen. But so far, I will continue. I already knew them even before hosting ‘Eat Bulaga.’ I’ve worked with some of them, like Buboy Villar, Cassy Legaspi, and Dasuri Choi. So the atmosphere is very light,” she continued.

During the ambush interview, Marquez hinted that “Eat Bulaga’s” 44th anniversary celebration will focus on the viewers and staff.

“Our anniversary celebration will revolve around the viewers, audience, and staff. We’re celebrating them, not the hosts. It’s more about the people we can help,” she said.

“Eat Bulaga” is set to mark its 44th anniversary on July 30. The popular noontime show premiered on Radio Philippines Network (RPN), then transferred to ABS-CBN, before finding its home in GMA. The cast of the show previously included TVJ, Paolo Ballesteros, Jose Manalo, Wally Bayola, Ryan Agoncillo, Maine Mendoza, Allan K, Ryzza Mae Dizon, and Carren Eistrup before they transferred to “E.A.T.” due to a legal dispute with TAPE Inc.
