Despite her busy schedule, McCain confessed that she still misses the wardrobe people she worked with during her four-year tenure on the show. Dressing up was something she loved, and she feels nostalgic for the kind and talented wardrobe team who have been part of the show’s history.
Since leaving “The View,” McCain has been vocal about her decision and the reasons behind it. In her memoir, titled “Bad Republican” released in 2021, she divulged her belief that Goldberg and Behar treated her poorly due to her conservative views. McCain expressed how the environment affected her self-esteem, particularly during the Trump years, where being a Republican seemed to be the worst thing in the world. As the country became more divided under Trump’s presidency, McCain felt a shift in the treatment she received from Goldberg, Behar, and some of the staff, which became harsher and less forgiving.
According to McCain, it felt like she became a target for all the animosity towards the president. She mentioned that the co-hosts and staff seemed to view her as the sole representation of Republicans and directed their anger towards her, despite her not even voting for Trump.
