Entrepreneur Vivek Ramaswamy is set to address the California Republican Party Fall Convention in Anaheim, making him the fourth and final candidate for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination to speak at the event. Ramaswamy will be discussing topics related to “national unity” and “taking America First to the next level” during a luncheon banquet. Chris Grant, a senior adviser to the Ramaswamy campaign, shared these details with City News Service.
Ramaswamy has unveiled a series of 25 policy commitments aimed at advancing the “America First” agenda beyond former President Donald Trump. These commitments include securing the southern border using the military, banning addictive social media for minors, ending affirmative action, protecting political expression as a civil right, and more. The policies also focus on reducing taxes and regulation, promoting competition and investment, declaring independence from communist China, and restructuring the government by eliminating certain agencies.
Ramaswamy, who turned 38 on August 9, was born and raised in Cincinnati. He graduated summa cum laude in biology from Harvard and obtained his law degree from Yale Law School. In 2014, he founded the biotechnology company Roivant Sciences with the goal of revolutionizing drug development. During his tenure as CEO, Ramaswamy oversaw the development of five FDA-approved drugs. He resigned in February 2021 to concentrate on his presidential campaign.
Aside from his business ventures, Ramaswamy is also an accomplished author. He has written books such as “Woke, Inc.: Inside Corporate America’s Social Justice Scam,” “Nation of Victims: Identity Politics, the Death of Merit, and the Path Back to Excellence,” and “Capitalist Punishment: How Wall Street is Using Your Money to Create a Country You Didn’t Vote For.”
In his announcement video, Ramaswamy emphasizes the importance of addressing the nation’s identity crisis and the dominance of “woke left” ideologies. He criticizes the psychological slavery imposed by these ideologies and the culture of fear they have created in America.
If elected, Ramaswamy would be the youngest president in U.S. history, surpassing Theodore Roosevelt and John F. Kennedy. He would also be the first Indian American president and the first Hindu to hold the office.
The California Republican Party Fall Convention also featured speeches from former President Donald Trump, Senator Tim Scott, and Governor Ron DeSantis. Trump expressed his concerns about the state’s leadership, referring to California as a “dumping ground” for prisoners, terrorists, and mental patients. Trump’s remarks sparked a spirited response from the crowd, as he highlighted the need for a Republican candidate who can carry the state in future elections.
Senator Tim Scott discussed his campaign themes of faith, personal responsibility, and school choice during his “fireside chat” with California Republican Party Chairwoman Jessica Millan Patterson.
Governor Ron DeSantis outlined the success of the Florida model compared to the decline represented by the California model. He highlighted his achievements in education, including giving parents the right to choose between public and private schools, eliminating critical race theory from the curriculum, and banning the promotion of gender ideology in schools.
The convention concluded with the adoption of the party platform on Sunday.
