Westside Boxing Club Founder to be Honored with Dedication of Mid-City Intersection

On Saturday, a momentous occasion will take place at the intersection of Pico and West boulevards. It will be the dedication of Jose Manuel Saucedo Square, paying tribute to the legendary founder of the Westside Boxing Club. Situated at this vibrant Mid-City crossroads, the club has become a pillar in the community.

The dedication ceremony will commence at 10 a.m. on the West Boulevard Bridge, followed by a delightful community event that will continue until 2 p.m. There will be an abundance of food, music, and a resource fair for everyone to enjoy. At noon, the Westside Boxing Club trainers will lead an exciting boxing class.

Why did Saucedo found the club back in 2007? It started with his grandson who was passionate about boxing but faced obstacles due to the high cost of training at various gyms. This led Saucedo to create an affordable option for passionate boxers like his grandson. Even his own sons, Jose Jr. and Ignacio, encountered this challenge during their youth.
