Los Angeles Animal Services is excited to announce its upcoming “Basic Black” adoption event for dogs with predominantly black fur. During this weekend event, adoption fees for these black-furred dogs will be reduced by $50. The Paula Kent Meehan Pet Care Foundation is graciously sponsoring the event, which will take place on July 15 – 16. In addition to the reduced fees for dogs, the animal foundation will also waive adoption fees for cats and kittens.
Staycee Dains, the general manager of LAAS, expressed gratitude for the Pet Care Foundation’s support. Dains stated, “As we strive to create a more compassionate city, ensuring easy access to the transformative power of pet companionship is a significant step forward. We are fortunate to have the generous backing of the Pet Care Foundation, who sponsors these adoption events.”
All dogs and cats adopted from LAAS come already spayed or neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and licensed. Additionally, new pet owners will receive a Petco flier with discounts to facilitate a successful adoption experience. To further support the adopters, a VCA Healthy Start Certificate, providing up to $250 of follow-up veterinary care within the first 14 days of adoption, will be given.
Bill Crowe, the director of the Pet Care Foundation, expressed hope that this adoption event will inspire more people to give these often overlooked dogs and cats a second chance at life with loving families. Crowe said, “We hope this adoption event encourages people to adopt and give these dogs and cats who are often overlooked a second chance at life with new families.”
