I have a complicated relationship with Siri that can sometimes feel like we need couples counseling. It’s frustrating that Siri never waits for me to finish my thoughts or requests before rushing off to find a partial solution. It’s almost as if Siri is eager to prove its productivity or simply can’t stand the sound of my voice. If you’ve had enough of Siri’s diva personality and constant interruptions, don’t worry, we have a solution for you.
To make Siri listen longer, you can manually press the side or home button on your iPhone. Simply hold down the button on the right side of your phone until you finish your sentence, and Siri will continue listening until you release your finger. It’s a genius feature that gives you control over the conversation.
For those who prefer hands-free activation with “Hey Siri,” we haven’t forgotten about you. There’s a hidden setting that allows Siri to wait for you to finish speaking. You now have the power to control Siri’s listening time, putting you in charge. Who’s the boss now?
To make Siri listen longer in hands-free mode, follow these steps:
1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone or iPad and scroll down to Accessibility.
2. Tap on Accessibility and then tap on Siri.
3. Scroll down and under Siri Pause Time, change the Default to Longer or Longest. Longer will give you a longer duration than the default setting, while Longest suggests the maximum duration available.
These steps can also be followed to enable a more patient Siri on your iPad. If you ever get bored with this newfound control, you can always change the wait duration again. It’s that easy.
So go ahead and give it a try. Talk Siri’s ear off if you want. We won’t judge. Now you’re in charge, and Siri will listen as long as you need. Looks like we can skip the couples counseling after all.
