- A video captured a woman throwing what appeared to be cash on the tarmac at Vienna Airport.
According to The Independent, two passengers were expelled from an Eva Air flight after causing disturbances on board, as reported by the airline.
The flight, originally scheduled to depart from London’s Heathrow to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi International in Thailand on September 30, had to divert to Vienna Airport in Austria to remove the disruptive passengers.
In a video uploaded on YouTube by The Independent, a woman wearing a gray sweatsuit can be seen throwing what seemed to be cash onto the tarmac in Vienna. A male passenger, also dressed in a gray sweatsuit, can be observed picking up the items.
A male voice in the video is heard saying, “Oh, look at that money! £5,000, that’s what she said.” However, the validity of the objects retrieved from the tarmac could not be independently verified by Insider.
According to News.com.au, an Eva Air spokesperson stated that the woman had attempted to move from her economy seat to a premium economy seat without paying for the upgrade. The spokesperson also mentioned that the male passenger accompanying her later smoked an e-cigarette during the flight.
“Our flight attendants took immediate action to restrain these passengers, but they were met with verbal abuse and physical assault,” stated the airline spokesperson to News.com.au. With the assistance of eight other passengers, the two disruptive passengers were successfully restrained.
