September marks the transition from summer to fall, and with it comes the arrival of new seasons of beloved shows on Netflix. The streaming giant has excitingly announced over 100 additions for the upcoming month. Fans can look forward to the highly anticipated return of shows like “Love Is Blind” (Season 5 premiering on September 22), “Sex Education” (Season 4 on September 21), and “Virgin River” (Season 5 on September 7).
However, amidst this excitement, it is important to note that the entertainment industry is currently grappling with issues relating to fair pay and working conditions in the streaming era. Many TV and film writers and actors, including those involved in these shows, are on strike to demand better treatment.
In addition to these returning shows, Netflix will also be offering eleven new documentaries in September. “Scout’s Honor: The Secret Files of the Boy Scouts of America” (premiering September 6) sheds light on the organization’s decades-long cover-up of sexual abuse cases, while “Who Killed Jill Dando?” (premiering September 26) delves into the unsolved murder of a British TV presenter from 1999. On the scripted side, subscribers can enjoy the release of “El Conde,” directed by Academy Award-nominated director Pablo Larraín, and the adaptation of a new romance novel, “Love at First Sight,” starting September 15. Additionally, Wes Anderson’s second Roald Dahl film, “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar,” will debut on Netflix, with the exact date yet to be announced.
