The Vinyl Trend Continues to Drive Booming Sales
Despite the rise of streaming services like Spotify, vinyl record sales continue to soar.
According to the British Phonographic Industry (BPI), over 2.7 million LPs were sold in the first half of 2023, marking a 12% increase from the previous year.
The vinyl revival has been steadily gaining momentum, with 2022 seeing the highest volume of record sales since 1990, reaching 5.5 million units in the UK.
The best-selling LP so far this year has been Lana Del Rey’s “Did You Know That There’s a Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd,” followed by albums from Lewis Capaldi and Gorillaz.
A spokesperson for the BPI stated: “Despite the years of growth, demand for vinyl continues to rise. This can be attributed to the passion that fans have for the format and the emotional connection it provides with the music they love.”
