The God of Mischief: What to Expect in “Loki” Season 2
The God of Mischief, Loki, has returned and he’s ready for more action in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Since his debut in “Thor,” Loki, portrayed by the talented Tom Hiddleston, has become one of the most beloved characters in the franchise. Now, in his own title series, Hiddleston takes on the lead role and proves once again why he’s perfect as the mischievous god.
“Loki” Season 2 picks up immediately after the events of the first season. Loki and Sylvie, played by Sophia Di Martino, encounter He Who Remains, portrayed by Jonathan Majors, who reveals himself as the creator of the Time Variance Authority (TVA). He explains that the TVA was established to prevent the existence of other realities and the chaos caused by “He Who Remains variants.”
Torn between taking over the responsibility of managing the multiverse and killing He Who Remains, Sylvie chooses the latter. Little did they know, this sets in motion events that will shape the future of the MCU. Fans speculate that these events tie into “Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania” and may introduce the next big bad of the MCU.
In “Loki” Season 2, Loki finds himself heartbroken and facing an uncertain future. He must now navigate the shattered multiverse and prevent an impending war. The season will see the return of Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Ravonna Renslayer, Tara Strong as Miss Minutes, Owen Wilson as Mobius M. Mobius, and Eugene Cordero as Casey/Hunter K-5E. Additionally, Ke Huy Quan will make an appearance as O.B, and Jonathan Majors will reprise his role as Victor Timely, another variant of his character.
The arrest of Jonathan Majors earlier this year has raised questions about his future in the MCU. However, it is likely that we will still see him as Kang the Conqueror in “Loki” Season 2. A portion of the season will take place in an 1890s-era World Fair, where Kang first unveils his Temporal Marvels machine. Rafael Casal will also join the cast as Brad Wolfe, a movie actor from that time.
