Unveiling the Killer in Season 3 Finale of ‘Only Murders in the Building’

The true identity of the killer of Hollywood superstar Ben Glenroy was revealed on Tuesday.

Spoilers ahead for the Season 3 finale of “Only Murders in the Building.”

The murderer turned out to be Clifford “Cliff” DeMeo (Wesley Taylor), the young Broadway producer of the eccentric musical “Death Rattle Dazzle” by Oliver Putnam.

But here’s the twist – the crime was not purely committed by Clifford.

In Episode 10 of the third season of “Only Murders in the Building”, viewers discovered that the killing was a collaborated effort between Clifford and his partner, Donna (Linda Emond).

It all began when Donna read a scathing review of “Death Rattle” before its opening night, where Ben Glenroy starred as the lead. Donna, driven by desperation to save her show, laced a cookie with rat poison, intending to sideline Ben and salvage their production.

To her surprise, Ben miraculously recovered from the poisoning. However, Cliff, still fueled by anger and resentment, pushed Ben down an elevator shaft during a heated confrontation at the Arconia building. It was in this moment that Ben discovered Donna’s actions and threatened to call the police. Cliff, furious and protective of his mother, impulsively shoved Ben, resulting in his death.

When Oliver, Charles, and Mabel confronted Donna and Cliff with their evidence, Donna took the blame for pushing Ben, ultimately protecting her son.

However, during a dramatic sequence on the second opening night of “Death Rattle Dazzle,” Cliff confesses to his crimes while suspended above the stage of the Gooseberry Theater.

As always, the third season of “Only Murders in the Building” had multiple potential suspects, leaving viewers guessing until the end.

Potential culprits included Gregg (Adrian Martinez), an obsessed fan who posed as Ben’s security guard; Dickie (Jeremy Shamos), Ben’s resentful brother and manager; Loretta (Meryl Streep), Ben’s co-star and Dickie’s long-lost mother; and Tobert (Jesse Williams), a documentary filmmaker who began dating Mabel.

However, in the end, Ben Glenroy fell victim to the dark side of show business – a Broadway producer terrified of negative reviews and a vengeful son unwilling to let go of his mother.
