Alexa and Siri are about to get really jealous. The voice technology smart speakers are about to face some competition from a full-fledged humanoid AI robot being introduced on the ChatGPT app for Plus paying customers. The exciting new development, called Voice Conversation, is now available on the iOS and Google Play ChatGPT apps. This update could potentially eliminate the need for keyboards and revolutionize the way we interact with technology.
Voice Conversation allows users to have direct conversations with ChatGPT. This goes beyond typed-out conversations and gives users the opportunity to engage in real conversations, just like talking to a friend on the phone. With this new feature, you can ask questions, request assistance, and have insightful discussions using your voice.
But here’s the truly mind-blowing part: the AI robot’s voice sounds incredibly human-like. It’s almost as if you have a robot friend on your phone that can hold meaningful conversations. OpenAI has taken a big step forward in advancing voice technology, surpassing the capabilities of Alexa and Siri.
So, what can you do with Voice Conversation? Apart from asking basic questions, you can even upload photos on the ChatGPT app and receive insightful remarks about them. For example, you can upload a picture of a strawberry, a banana, and eggs, and ask the app what you can make with those ingredients. The chatbot surprised The Wall Street Journal by suggesting Strawberry Banana Pancakes. You can also take a picture of an unfinished tic-tac-toe game and get suggestions on the next move. Need help figuring out how to lower your bike seats? Simply take a picture of your bike and ask ChatGPT for assistance.
The possibilities are endless with Voice Conversation. Whether you need a bedtime story for your child or a friendly conversation for advice, the AI robot is there to assist. However, ChatGPT reminds users to exercise caution and not solely rely on its responses, as it’s still an AI processing data. It’s essential to use your judgment, especially for important matters.
To access this exciting new feature, you’ll need to download the ChatGPT app on your smartphone from the App Store or Google Play. Additionally, you’ll require a ChatGPT Plus account, available for approximately $20 per month on OpenAI. Once you’ve installed the app update and obtained a Plus account, go to the settings and enable Voice Conversations.
Initially, Voice Conversation will be available to ChatGPT Plus and Enterprise users. OpenAI plans to extend this feature to other user groups, including developers, in the near future.
As with any technological advancement, there are concerns and uncertainties. While voice assistants like Siri and Alexa were just the beginning, the level of advancement in ChatGPT’s Voice Conversation feature can be equally exciting and unsettling.
