“I thought he took completions, obviously took the shots when they were there, made plays with his feet,” praised coach Kevin Stefanski. “I thought he was outstanding today.”
Watson’s journey has not been easy. He went without playing a game for 700 days, as he sat out the entire 2021 season after requesting a trade from the Houston Texans. Furthermore, he faced an 11-game suspension last year due to violations of the NFL’s personal conduct policy, following accusations of sexual assault and inappropriate conduct by more than two dozen women during massages.
Browns star defensive end Myles Garrett expressed confidence in the offense’s ability to bounce back. He believed it was only a matter of time before Watson found his rhythm again.
“He’s only getting better and better,” Garrett remarked. “He’s only building more chemistry with his teammates and adjusting to the pace of the game once more.”
