London Police Seek Public’s Help to Identify Person Responsible for Death of Man Found in Freezer at Abandoned Pub after Nearly a Decade
The Metropolitan Police Service is seeking assistance from the public in identifying the individual responsible for the death of Roy Bigg. Bigg’s body was discovered on October 15, 2021, inside a freezer located in the basement of what was once Simpson’s Wine Bar, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Service.
Builders working on the property made the gruesome discovery, alerting the authorities.
The police are offering a reward of up to £20,000 (over $24,000) for any information that leads to the arrest and prosecution of those responsible for Bigg’s murder.
According to Detective Chief Inspector Kelly Allen of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, the investigators are relying on the public’s assistance to solve this heinous crime.
“It has been more than two years since Roy’s body was discovered. While our investigation and previous appeals to the media have provided us with details about Roy’s life, we still require your help in identifying the culprits,” Allen stated.
Allan revealed that Bigg disappeared in February 2012 at approximately 70 years old. Not a single sighting of him has been confirmed during the nine-year period before his body was found. The police urge anyone with information to come forward.
Authorities identified Bigg through dental records, but an autopsy couldn’t definitively determine the cause of death.
