Unlock the Secret Platinum Trophy in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 on PS5: Discover the Untold Achievement

The PlayStation 5 version of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 3 currently lacks a platinum trophy, causing concerns about its launch structure.

Interestingly, the trophy list for the PS5 version appears to be connected to last year’s Modern Warfare 2, which has been restructured as Call of Duty HQ.

Prior to the early access campaign launch of Modern Warfare 3, IGN reported that the game requires a massive 234.9GB installation on the PS5. This includes Call of Duty HQ, Warzone, and the Modern Warfare 3 campaign, excluding other unreleased components like Multiplayer and Zombies. Players can reduce the install size by deleting certain parts of the game.

Call of Duty HQ is now being presented as a launcher for games like Modern Warfare 3. However, the missing platinum trophy can still be found in the PlayStation 4 version, which has its own trophy menu. This issue doesn’t seem to affect Xbox players. On Steam, there is a peculiar situation where Modern Warfare 3’s Steam achievements are categorized as Modern Warfare 2 DLC.

The confusion surrounding the missing platinum trophy may stem from release difficulties related to Modern Warfare 3 initially being developed as an expansion for Modern Warfare 2. Modern Warfare 3 breaks the usual Call of Duty cycle by launching just a year after its predecessor. Activision initially planned for significant DLC for Modern Warfare 2 this year, but instead turned it into a full-fledged sequel called Modern Warfare 3.

Alternatively, the missing platinum trophy could be due to Modern Warfare 3 being launched as DLC for the rebranded Modern Warfare 2 (Call of Duty HQ), causing the PS5 to not recognize it as a standalone game deserving of its own platinum trophy.

When contacted by IGN, Activision declined to comment.

The Sledgehammer Games-developed Modern Warfare 3 campaign serves as a direct sequel to last year’s Modern Warfare 2. It consists of 15 missions, each offering rewards that can be used in Multiplayer, Zombies, and Warzone.

Here are the rewards available in the Modern Warfare 3 campaign:

  • “Breather” Calling Card
  • 30 mins Double Player XP Token & 30 mins Double Weapon XP Token
  • “Corso” Operator
  • “Ghillie Guy” Calling Card
  • 30 mins XP Token and 30m Weapon XP Token
  • “Pathfinder” Operator
  • “Toxic Drip” Calling Card
  • 1 hour Double Player XP Token and 1 hour Double Weapon XP Token
  • “Doc” Operator
  • “Skull Rhapsody” Calling Card
  • 1 hour Double Player XP Token and 1 hour Double Weapon XP Token
  • “Jabber” Operator
  • Campaign Completion Emblem
  • Campaign Completion Weapon Blueprint

Modern Warfare 3 will be officially released on November 10. It is the first Call of Duty game to launch after Microsoft’s $69 billion acquisition of Activision Blizzard, but it won’t be available on Game Pass until 2024.
