Honda Elevate: The Most Affordable ADAS-Equipped Compact SUV in India
When Honda introduced the Elevate SUV in India with a starting price of Rs. 11 lakh (ex-showroom), there were mixed opinions about the base price. However, the top-spec ZX trim is priced at just Rs. 16 lakh (ex-showroom, without DT treatment). This makes it the most affordable compact SUV equipped with an ADAS suite in India. Let’s explore how it compares to rival top-spec variants.
Honda Elevate Top Variant vs Rivals Top Variant
In a previous article, we discussed the features offered by the base model of the Elevate and compared them to rival base variants. In this post, we’ll be focusing on the most expensive variant available for each SUV, regardless of powertrain. We’ve selected the diesel variants of Korean SUVs and the strong hybrid variants of Hyryder and Grand Vitara for this comparison.
So, the lineup includes the Honda Elevate ZX CVT DT, Hyundai Creta SX(O) DT Knight Diesel AT, Seltos X-Line Diesel AT, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara Alpha+ Intelligent Hybrid, Toyota Hyryder V Hybrid, Skoda Kushaq Matte Edition 1.5 DSG, VW Taigun GT Plus 1.5 DSG, and MG Astor Savvy 1.3 Turbo AT.
Among these variants, the Elevate only offers a non-aspirated petrol engine, while the Korean SUVs come with a diesel engine, and the European models feature a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with a DCT. However, the Creta and Seltos also offer a 1.5L turbo petrol engine with a DCT. The Astor is equipped with a 3-cylinder 1.3L turbo petrol engine, while the Grand Vitara and Hyryder feature a strong hybrid powertrain. It’s worth mentioning that the non-hybrid variants of the Grand Vitara and Hyryder also offer an AWD option, which is quite impressive for this segment.
Which Variant Offers the Most Features?
Compact SUV buyers are increasingly interested in ADAS technology, which has become a hot topic in the automotive industry. Astor was the first to introduce it in this segment, followed by Seltos. However, Honda’s Sensing ADAS suite is available for just Rs. 16 lakh, making it the most affordable option compared to Astor, which costs Rs. 17 lakh, and Seltos, which is priced at Rs. 19.8 lakh (all prices ex-showroom).
However, the Elevate does lack certain features such as a panoramic sunroof, a fully digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, rear disc brakes, a 360-degree camera, and a HUD. It’s worth noting that the Elevate offers ventilated and massaging seats as optional accessories. If these features are important to you, the Seltos could be a good choice with its wild and youthful design and swanky 18″ alloy wheels. The Creta is also expected to receive a facelift soon and will be on par with the Seltos in terms of features and appeal. If ADAS is a priority, the Astor could be a good option and it offers a premium feel in its interior.
