Unleashing Everyday Versatility: Cube’s Longtail Hybrid Cargo E-bike Packs a Punch!

German bike maker Cube has released a new cargo e-bike specifically designed for urban transportation without relying on cars. The Longtail Hybrid features pedal-assist technology from Bosch and includes an “extra-long” carrier for carrying luggage, gear, or even children around the city.

Promising ample flexibility, the Longtail Hybrid is built with a mid-step aluminum frame that can accommodate riders between 1.6 and 1.9 meters (5.25 – 6.23 feet) tall. This is made possible with the help of a telescoping seat post and Speedlifter stem.

The e-bike comes equipped with a suspended rear rack capable of carrying 40 kg (88 lb) on top and 10 kg (22 lb) on each side. For those transporting kids, there’s an optional padded bench seat with wooden boards and wheel protectors. In addition, the rider can configure a front rack capable of holding 20 kg (44 lb) of cargo.

The Longtail Hybrid also includes lockable storage in the downtube for smaller items, as well as mounting points for additional racks. With a maximum weight capacity of 200 kg (441 lb), including the rider, this cargo e-bike is designed for heavy-duty use.

The Longtail Hybrid features a fourth-generation 250-W Bosch Performance Line CX mid-drive motor, providing 85 Nm (62.6 lb-ft) of torque and pedal-assist up to 25 km/h (15.5 mph). An accompanying app offers additional functionality. Power is supplied by a 725-Wh PowerPack battery located behind the seat post, although range estimates have not been provided.

There are two variants available: the Hybrid 725 includes Enviolo Cargo internal hub gears and a Gates Carbon Belt, while the Sport version is equipped with a chain and Shimano Deore 10-speed gearset.

Both models ride on 26-inch wheels with Schwalbe Pick-Up tires and are equipped with Magura MT5 hydraulic disc brakes with 203-mm rotors. Additional features include integrated lighting, full fenders, and a double-leg center kickstand.

The Longtail Hybrid 725 offers a suggested retail price of €4,499 (about US$4,810), while the Sport Hybrid 725 is slightly cheaper at €3,799 (~$4,065).
