Since its debut in 2016, Ford’s second-generation GT has seen a variety of special edition models, from the Mk I and Mk II to the Liquid Carbon and several Heritage editions. But none come close to the extreme nature of its latest creation—the Ford GT Mk IV. This $1.7 million track monster can now be seen in action in a new video from Goodwood Road & Racing.
The video captures the Ford GT Mk IV making its worldwide track debut at the Velocity Invitational at Sonoma Raceway. With only 67 of these track-only GT Mk IVs set to be produced, this may be the closest many of us will ever get to seeing one in person.
What sets the Mk IV apart from its predecessors is its extreme performance. Unhampered by road regulations, Ford has unleashed the GT Mk IV, which boasts over 800 horsepower from its twin-turbocharged V6 engine. In addition, Ford has equipped it with a bespoke six-speed Xtrac racing gearbox, delivering immense power and speed.

An unnamed source from Ford described the GT Mk IV as a “spaceship,” noting that they laughed the whole way down the back straight on their first drive. Clearly, this car is in a league of its own.
But the GT Mk IV isn’t just about power and speed—it’s designed to be the ultimate track version of the Ford GT, employing Multimatic Adaptive Spool Valve (ASV) dampers, Michelin racing slicks, and generating a whopping 2,400 pounds of downforce.
The video showcases the GT Mk IV in action, revealing a car that looks and sounds like a proper race car, hugging the ground and maneuvering with the agility of a Le Mans car.
While many of us may not be able to afford a $1.7 million weekend toy, it’s hoped that the fortunate few who do purchase one will make use of it on local track days, rather than letting it collect dust.
