Sept. 27 (UPI) — In a display of German engineering brilliance, an innovative engineer has created a one-of-a-kind custom minigun that unleashes a staggering 684 Nerf darts within a minute, equivalent to more than 11 darts per second.
Witnessing this remarkable achievement, the Guinness World Records has officially declared Thomas Busch’s creation, aptly named MOAB (Mother of All Blasters), as the fastest motorized foam dart gun in existence. The announcement came via a statement released by the renowned record-keeping entity.
Busch revealed that these darts can reach an impressive velocity of around 44.7 mph, similar to a regular Nerf gun. However, the sheer volume of ammunition being ejected intensifies the experience with a noticeable sting.
“I must admit, getting hit by one of these darts does sting a little,” Busch disclosed to Guinness World Records during an interview.
It took Busch approximately two years to meticulously construct and refine the MOAB, utilizing advanced 3D printing techniques to recreate the distinctive rotating barrel design associated with traditional gatling guns.
“Given the extensive modifications people have made to their Nerf blasters, and the sheer plethora of available models numbering over a thousand, I was certainly surprised that nobody thought of combining the gatling mechanism with a Nerf blaster for substantially higher fire rates. This realization prompted me to embark on my own ambitious project,” Busch explained.
With his sights set on future endeavors, Busch remains committed to pushing the boundaries of performance. He envisions surpassing his own record by achieving a jaw-dropping firing rate of 50 darts per second. Ultimately, his ultimate aspiration is to elevate it further to a mind-boggling 100 darts per second.
