Learn More About Wordle(Image credit: Nurphoto via Getty)
If you haven’t played Wordle before, here’s a brief overview: you’re presented with six rows of five boxes each day. Your task is to uncover the secret five-letter word hidden within these boxes. To improve your chances of success, start with a strong word like ARISE, or any word that combines common consonants and multiple vowels. Avoid starting words with repeating letters, as they limit your ability to confirm or eliminate additional letters. When you enter your guess, the game provides feedback by marking each letter in one of three ways: ⬛️ signifies a letter that is not in the word at all, 🟨 indicates a correct letter in the wrong position, and 🟩 represents a correct letter in the correct position.
For your second guess, select another “good” word that complements your starting word. This will help cover any missed common letters from your previous guess while avoiding any letters you’ve already confirmed are not in today’s answer. With some luck, you’ll have a few colored squares to work with, putting you on the right track to cracking the code.
After that, it’s simply a matter of using what you’ve learned to make educated guesses and narrow down the possible word options. You have six tries in total and can only use real words (no filling the boxes with EEEEE in hopes of finding an E). Remember, letters can repeat in the word (e.g. BOOKS).

Origins of Wordle
Wordle was originally created by software engineer Josh Wardle as a surprise for his partner, who happens to love word games. It quickly gained popularity within his family and eventually became available to the public. Since then, Wordle has inspired numerous variations, incorporating elements of music, math, and geography. Its immense popularity led to its acquisition by the New York Times for a seven-figure sum. Who knows? Perhaps we’ll all soon communicate solely through colorful boxes.
