Vance replied, “First time here, yeah.”
Kaptur then responded, “Thank you for coming.”

Both politicians were attending a picket line at the Toledo Assembly Complex in Toledo, Ohio, according to a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, by 13Action News. The plant seems to be associated with Stellantis, one of the major auto companies that UAW workers are striking against.
Vance has argued that UAW members should pressure President Joe Biden and his administration to stop subsidizing the electric vehicle (EV) industry.
In a September op-ed for the Toledo Blade, Vance wrote, “Those who claim there will be a ‘just transition’ to EVs should visit Northeast Ohio to see the industry’s bleak future.”
He called on UAW leadership to take action, stating that this is an opportunity they can’t afford to miss.
Vance continued, “Rather than giving in to the Biden administration’s unfair transition to EVs, the UAW should use their leverage to pressure the President to stop subsidizing an industry that benefits Communist China more than American workers.”
