TOMY International, a toy and nursery company, is voluntarily recalling approximately 83,000 Boon Flair and Flair Elite model highchairs in the United States, along with an additional 2,850 highchairs sold in Canada. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has highlighted the potential fall hazard caused by the loosening of bolts used to secure the seat to the base. TOMY has received 34 reports of the chairs separating from the base, resulting in 11 injuries including bruises and scratches.
To address this issue promptly and ensure the safety of children, TOMY and federal regulators advise customers to cease using the highchairs and contact TOMY for a free repair kit, available for order on the company’s website. TOMY emphasizes its commitment to providing the safest products and states that they will work diligently to resolve the situation while prioritizing child safety and customer trust.
The affected highchairs were sold both online and in physical stores like Bed Bath & Beyond, Target, and Toys “R” Us. The Flair Elite models were available for purchase from 2008 to 2009, while the Flair models were sold between January 2008 and February 2017.
