TweetDeck access now requires user verification, says Twitter

In an announcement on Twitter, it has been revealed that Twitter users will soon need to be verified in order to use TweetDeck. This change will take effect in 30 days.

Twitter shared the news in a tweet that also showcased an improved version of TweetDeck with new features. It remains unclear if Twitter will charge users for both the new and old versions of TweetDeck, as the company has not responded to requests for comment.

Introducing a charge for TweetDeck, which was previously free and widely used by businesses and news organizations for content monitoring, could potentially boost revenue for Twitter. The company has been grappling with retaining advertising revenue under the ownership of billionaire Elon Musk.

This development comes just days after Musk stated that both verified and unverified users would have a limited number of daily posts to address issues related to data scraping and system manipulation. His announcement faced backlash from Twitter users, and advertising experts believe it could undermine the new CEO, Linda Yaccarino, who joined the company last month.

To verify their accounts, individuals will need to pay $8 per month, while organizations will be charged $1,000 per month.
