TVS Industrial and Logistics Parks (TVS ILP), part of the TVS Mobility Group, recently conducted the groundbreaking ceremony for its cutting-edge warehouse in the city, according to a statement released on Friday. The city-based company aims to provide support to the vertically integrated solar manufacturing facility of US-headquartered First Solar through this new warehouse.
The warehouse, which will cover an impressive area of 5.70 lakh sq ft in Pillaipakkam, Kancheepuram district, will serve as a hub for supplying raw materials and inventory to First Solar, as stated by the company.
“This strategic location is intended to reduce time, inventory, and space utilization costs within the First Solar factory…” stated TVS ILP COO Manikandan Ramachandra.
He further added, “We understand the importance of proximity for manufacturing companies in need of warehouses near their facilities, and our strategic land acquisition adjacent to First Solar’s facility emphasizes our dedication to meeting this need.”
The construction of the facility is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2024 and is projected to create 200 job opportunities in the region.
First Solar Vice President Sujoy Ghosh expressed his satisfaction, stating, “We are pleased that TVS ILP has chosen to establish this crucial warehousing infrastructure close to our Chennai facility.” Ghosh, who is also the Country Managing Director of the company, believes that the warehouse will play an integral role in optimizing inventory and capacity utilization.
The company regards its entry into the renewable energy sector as evidence of its adaptability and commitment to serving clients from various industries.
