NEW YORK (AP) — During President Joe Biden’s 81st birthday, GOP front-runner Donald Trump celebrated by releasing a letter from his physician affirming the former president’s “excellent” physical and mental health.
The letter, released on Trump’s social media platform, did not contain specific details supporting its claims, such as weight, blood pressure, cholesterol levels, or test results. Dr. Bruce A. Aronwald, who has been Trump’s doctor since 2021, reported that Trump’s physical and cognitive exams were exceptional and well within normal ranges.
Aronwald also stated that Trump’s recent lab results were more favorable following weight loss credited to an improved diet and regular physical exercise, culminating in “excellent health” for the 77-year-old former president, who is projected to continue an active lifestyle for years to come.
Age has become a focal point for the 2024 election, with Trump and Biden, the country’s oldest president, potentially facing off once more. Polls consistently show that the majority of Americans view Biden’s age as a liability, while Trump’s rivals have attempted to emphasize his age through recent mistakes during public appearances.
Assurances of Trump’s health by his physicians have become a recurring theme, with previous extravagant claims during his first campaign for the Republican nomination. While in the White House, Trump’s doctors revealed a more complete picture of his health after annual physicals, making it a polarizing topic as he continues to tout his robust health.
