Trump Advises Witness Against Testifying

Donald Trump’s response to a federal judge’s warning to control his public comments shows no signs of concern. Instead, the former president launched an attack on Judge Tanya Chutkan in a recent Truth Social post. According to Politico, Trump accused Chutkan of being “very biased & unfair” (in all caps) and suggested that she wants him behind bars. Judge Chutkan, who presides over Trump’s election interference case, cautioned him against making “inflammatory” remarks and assured she would closely monitor his comments. In his post, Trump referred to statements made by Chutkan during the sentencing of a Jan. 6 rioter last year.

During the sentencing, Chutkan remarked that the individuals who stormed the Capitol did so out of loyalty to one man rather than to the Constitution. According to Chutkan, many of the defendants showed a lack of understanding of the Constitution, the ideals of the country, and the principles of democracy. She also highlighted that the person they were loyal to remained free. Trump also discussed another legal case, particularly mentioning a witness who is reportedly testifying in Georgia about his efforts to overturn the state’s 2020 results.

According to Axios and the Guardian, Trump seemed to caution former Lt. Gov. Geoff Duncan against testifying before the Fulton County grand jury. “He shouldn’t,” Trump wrote. “I barely know him, but he has been a disastrous figure for those investigating the Election Fraud in Georgia since the beginning of this Witch Hunt.” Furthermore, Trump made additional posts criticizing Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, as reported by the Hill. He vehemently denied tampering with the election. (Read more election interference indictment stories.)
