Trucker Arrested: Identifying Victims of Fatal Winchester Collision

A tragic incident occurred in Winchester when a 39-year-old man, Delwyn Dewion Randle of Westminster, allegedly drove under the influence and crashed his truck into two vehicles at a red light. This reckless act resulted in the death of two individuals and left two others injured. The authorities are now conducting an investigation into the matter.

The suspect, Randle, has been arrested and is being held at the Smith Correctional Facility in Banning on $100,000 bail. The Riverside County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing his case. He is facing charges of DUI resulting in death.

Israel Bermudez, 25, from Buena Park, and Paloma Casares, 32, from Hemet, tragically lost their lives due to Randle’s alleged actions.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Randle was driving a 2013 International box truck eastbound on Domenigoni Parkway when he failed to stop at a red light. The truck collided with a 2023 Chevrolet Silverado pickup and a 2022 BMW X3, which were stopped in the same lane. Next to the BMW was a Dodge Durango SUV also stopped at the light.

The driver of the Chevy managed to avoid a direct impact by moving to the left just in time. However, the box truck struck the right rear of the Chevy before crashing into the rear of the BMW. As a result, the BMW was pushed into a ditch in a southeasterly direction. The box truck continued on, hitting a light pole and a fire hydrant, causing significant damage.

The Dodge was also affected by debris from the crash, but fortunately, there was no major damage. The Riverside County Fire Department paramedics arrived promptly but sadly pronounced Bermudez and Casares dead at the scene. Casares was the driver of the BMW, and Bermudez was in the left rear passenger seat. Another occupant in the BMW, a 31-year-old man from Beaumont, sustained moderate injuries.

The driver of the Chevy, a 32-year-old woman from Hemet, suffered minor injuries. Both she and the BMW passenger were taken to the hospital for treatment, but their current conditions are unknown. The authorities have alleged that Randle was under the influence of drugs at the time of the incident. He was taken into custody without incident, and no medical attention was required.

Fortunately, the driver and passenger in the Dodge were unharmed.

Due to the severity of the crash, the eastbound lanes were closed until late Wednesday afternoon. The accident caused around 50 gallons of diesel and oil from the box truck to spill onto the roadway and flow into storm drains. A hazardous materials unit conducted a clean-up operation, and Eastern Municipal Water District personnel repaired the broken fire hydrant.
