According to Square’s status update on Thursday, these disruptions are affecting multiple Square services. They acknowledged that there might be slight delays in money transfers. It’s important to note that Square and Cash App are both owned by Block, the parent company.
Square acknowledged the issues on X (previously known as Twitter) and assured users that they are actively working towards a fix. They understand the importance of their services running smoothly and are dedicated to resolving the problems.
As of Friday morning, there have been nearly 1,500 reports of user issues with Square’s app, website, and payment processing. This number has decreased from over 18,000 reports on Thursday night, according to data from DownDetector. Cash App has also received around 1,700 reports of fund transfer and payment issues as of the same time on Friday, as reported by DownDetector.
The exact number of affected customers and the extent of the problems are still unclear. Cash App and Square have not yet provided any comments regarding the situation.
Square has assured users that they are actively working on resolving the issues. They have stated that some services are gradually regaining their functionality. The company is closely monitoring the situation and the fixes implemented by their engineering teams, as mentioned in a Friday update.
