European Spidey fans are encountering difficulties when it comes to installing Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 from physical discs.
This issue has been brought up by numerous players on the official subreddit community of the game. They have reported that the installation process freezes at 36 percent.
Regardless of the attempts to resolve the issue, such as disabling internet connection, cleaning the disc, or performing a factory reset, the installation always stops at the same point. Even exchanging the game for a brand new disc doesn’t solve the problem.
Based on the responses, it seems that this issue primarily affects EU and PAL/UK versions of the game.
“I was one of the unlucky ones. When I tried to get a refund, they removed the remaining copies from the shelf. It seems like the store didn’t want to sell more until the problem was resolved,” said one commentator.

“I’m also experiencing problems with the digital deluxe version. After the intro mission, the game crashes when reaching level 3, causing my PS5 to restart and repair the hard drive each time,” reports another player.
While Sony and Insomniac have yet to publicly acknowledge the issue, one commenter stated that “[A friend] contacted Sony and was informed that they are aware of the issue and a patch to fix it will be released today or this weekend”. However, others have been told by Sony and Insomniac that it may be a “faulty disc”.
We will provide updates if we hear anything from Sony and Insomniac regarding a potential fix.
As Victoria mentioned in yesterday’s summary, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 is now available. The developer, Insomniac, has stated that completing just the main story missions will take an average of 15 hours, while delving deeper to complete side missions and collectibles can extend the gameplay to around 40 hours.
When it was revealed that Spider-Man 2’s main story can be completed relatively quickly compared to games like this year’s Baldur’s Gate 3, which can take days to finish, some felt that Insomniac was charging too much for the sequel.
In Eurogamer’s review of Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, it was described as “action that is cluttered yet still lovable,” with the game being “a little simple and a little over-stuffed,” but ultimately retaining immense charm and a fluid, free-form style.
