The tragic collision occurred on Saturday afternoon on the N5 at Ballymiles, near Swinford. The driver of the other vehicle suffered serious injuries and was taken to Mayo University Hospital. Two passengers from each car are also receiving treatment, but their injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. The Garda forensic collision investigators have conducted a technical examination of the crash scene and vehicles.
