A 22-year-old man was arrested after causing a multi-vehicle crash in Malibu, where he plowed into four women. Authorities are currently investigating the incident, which occurred at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Los Angeles County Fire Department responded to the scene on the 21600 block of Pacific Coast Highway to find the victims and severely damaged vehicles, according to the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
According to KABC 7, the suspect lost control of his BMW, colliding with several parked cars before hitting the women who were standing on the side of the road. Tragically, the impact proved fatal for the victims. The sheriff’s department has confirmed the deaths and stated that at least four vehicles were involved in the crash. An official from the Los Angeles County Fire Department, speaking with KTLA 5, suggested that speed likely played a role in the incident.
In addition to the fatalities, two other individuals were taken to a hospital in an unknown condition. Due to the crash, Pacific Coast Highway has been closed in both directions from Carbon Canyon to Las Flores Canyon, with no estimated reopening time, as reported by the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff’s Station.
