Top 6 San Francisco 49ers Players Valued with a Minimum of One First-Round Draft Pick, as Stated by Bill Barnwell – NBC Sports Bay Area & California

When it comes to talent, the San Francisco 49ers have an abundance. But just how valuable are these stars?

While the 49ers are focused on pursuing their sixth Super Bowl championship, let’s imagine a different scenario where they decide to rebuild. What kind of return could they get for trading away their star players?

In a recent column, ESPN’s Bill Barnwell explored the value of NFL players who he believes are worth at least a first-round pick. And it turns out the 49ers have an impressive six players who fit the bill.

DE Nick Bosa: Two first-round picks and more

“Bosa has an impeccable resume, despite missing most of the 2020 season due to a torn ACL,” writes Barnwell. “He’s won the Defensive Rookie of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year awards before the age of 26. With an average of 13.5 sacks per 17 games, he is widely regarded as an outstanding two-way defender.”

LB Fred Warner, RB Christian McCaffrey: One first-round pick and more

“Warner is a player who goes beyond his positional value,” explains Barnwell.

“The same can be said for McCaffrey, who has excelled since joining the 49ers in a trade package last year. Although the capital the 49ers gave up may have equated to a first-round pick, his performance in a San Francisco uniform has likely increased his value.”

WR Brandon Aiyuk, S Talanoa Hufanga, QB Brock Purdy: One first-round pick

“Aiyuk has really come into his own this season,” adds Barnwell. “While his current absurd efficiency might not be sustainable, his numbers would be impressive if he had more opportunities to run routes.”

“Hufanga showed his playmaking ability and hard-hitting skills in his first season as a starter, earning a first-team All-Pro selection.”

“Purdy will earn less than $3 million over the next three years combined. While he may not be the best quarterback in the league like QBR suggests, he could be a solid starter and the biggest bargain in the NFL until 2025.”

The 49ers actually have more star players who could bring in significant draft capital, but Barnwell believes their value falls short of a first-round pick.

OT Trent Williams, TE George Kittle, WR Deebo Samuel, LB Dre Greenlaw, DT Javon Hargrave, CB Charvarius Ward: Missing out

The 49ers possess one of the best rosters in the NFL and seem poised for success in the coming years. However, if they were to unexpectedly change course and rebuild, they could accelerate the process with seven potential first-round picks and plenty of other draft assets.

It’s safe to say that nobody within the 49ers organization or the fanbase wants or expects that to happen any time soon.
