Laura Woods has been appointed as the lead presenter for the Champions League on TNT Sports, as the network enters the British and Irish market, replacing BT Sport. The new venture will feature a female-fronted presentation team, with Lynsey Hipgrave continuing to present weekend Premier League coverage, Reshmin Chowdhury anchoring Champions League matches, and Jules Breach heading up Europa League coverage and acting as a touchline reporter. The team resembles the outgoing BT regime, with Ally McCoist joining as the co-commentator, Darren Fletcher and Adam Summerton continuing in commentary roles, and Rio Ferdinand, Peter Crouch, and Joe Cole leading the list of pundits and co-commentators. The new channel will replace BT Sport wherever it was available, and its first live offering will be the Champions League match between Struga and Zalgiris. For the same price as its predecessor, TNT will also broadcast 52 Premier League games until 2025. The channel will also debut Orla Chennaoui as a rugby union presenter and Radzi Chinyanganya as a multisports anchor. Stuart Hogg, the retired Scotland player, will join the rugby union punditry team. TNT Sports aims to be “irreverent” and “relatable”, with a focus on women’s sport. The channel plans to offer a wider entertainment package which includes access to Eurosport and Discovery channels. Despite facing financial challenges in the highly competitive market, TNT hopes to engage fans and consumers and plans to bid for Premier League rights from the 2025-26 season onwards.
