The Tuohys’ Lucrative Use of Michael Oher’s Name Remains a Mystery to Him

  • Former NFL player Michael Oher has filed court documents claiming that he is unaware of the amount of money the Tuohy family earned by using his name, image, and likeness.
  • Oher alleges that the Tuohys failed to provide financial statements as required by the court.
  • Oher wants to know the extent of the family’s profit from their association with him.

In recently obtained court documents, Michael Oher, the former NFL player who inspired the movie “The Blind Side,” claims that he has no knowledge of the financial gains the Tuohy family made by utilizing his name, image, and likeness.

Oher’s motion, filed in the Shelby County, Tennessee probate court, alleges that the Tuohys neglected to submit financial reports required of conservators in the state, according to the Tennessee Bar Association.

Insider has not received a response from the Tuohys regarding these allegations.

The filing by Oher states that the reports should include detailed records of expenses and income related to contracts and the use of Oher’s name, likeness, and image. It also claims that the Tuohys never provided any of these reports or evidence of profits earned from “The Blind Side” film.

Oher argues that instead of safeguarding his assets and ensuring he received appropriate compensation, the Tuohys capitalized on his fame for their own enrichment.

Oher’s filing further asserts that the Tuohys exploited his name, likeness, and image to advance their personal business endeavors without his consent.

Oher is demanding that the Tuohys fulfill their obligations by presenting the financial disclosures to the court.

Earlier this month, Oher filed a lawsuit alleging that the Tuohys placed him under conservatorship without his knowledge and falsely claimed to have adopted him in 2004.

Sean Tuohy, in response to the public filing, stated that the conservatorship was established to satisfy NCAA regulations and allow Oher to play football for the University of Mississippi. He expressed willingness to terminate the conservatorship based on Oher’s desires.
