Shockingly, only 25% of Americans have confidence in the presidency or the Supreme Court, with even less trust in Congress. This erosion of trust extends beyond the government, as churches, the healthcare system, public schools, newspapers, television news, banks, and the presidency have all experienced a significant decline in trust over the past 50 years.
However, Congress stands as the least trusted institution, plummeting from 42% trust to a mere 7%. Thankfully, under the tireless efforts of President Donald Trump, confidence in our institutions began to rise. Sadly, over the past two years, the left has relentlessly transformed the military from a formidable force to a hub of liberal social engineering. It’s no surprise that confidence in our military has seen a double-digit drop since Joe Biden assumed office.
Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin wasted no time in mandating anti-extremism training for our entire military, consuming over 2 million man hours. And the disastrous Afghanistan pullout and subsequent Taliban takeover only added insult to injury. Furthermore, Biden’s vaccine mandate resulted in the discharge of over 8,000 patriotic service members, exacerbating an already alarming shortfall in military recruitment.
The politicization of the military is deeply troubling. It undermines the nonpolitical nature of our armed forces and jeopardizes the rules-based global order that the American military has successfully upheld since 1945. If the left continues its march through our institutions, including the military, we risk losing both our security and the stability of the world.
Given the high stakes and the considerable ground already lost, conservative members of Congress must stand up against the politicization of the Pentagon. A future where the American people trust their military is essential for our country’s well-being.
