The Loki Creative Team’s Exciting Twist: The Fun of Subverting Expectations with Victor Timely

Expect the Unexpected in Loki Season 2 with an Exciting New Twist

In an interview with Yahoo UK, Kevin Wright, the producer of Loki, teases fans with what they can expect in the upcoming season. One of the most intriguing elements is the character of Victor Timely, played by Jonathan Majors. Despite being a variant of Kang the Conqueror, the creative team decided to take a different approach.

Wright explains, “He’s telling us — at the end of season one — ‘war is coming,’ so you’re expecting this sci-fi villain from the future. And I just think structurally from the very beginning, we [thought] it would be really fun if the next one that showed up wasn’t a bad guy, and he wasn’t a big sci-fi villain and was somebody from the past.”

This decision opened up a world of storytelling possibilities. Victor is a character who can challenge the main characters of Loki and Sylvie. The TVA is aware of his existence and needs his help, creating an interesting dynamic. Sylvie, on the other hand, wants to live her life but is conflicted because if one of these guys shows up, she wants to kill him. It’s a paradox between her belief in free will and her desire for revenge.

“It’s just going to challenge your worldview,” Wright adds. “So for all of our characters, it just felt like it gave us rich character conflict to go this direction.”

Jonathan Majors’ recent legal troubles raise questions about his future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Wright assures fans that recasting was never considered and that the series was not impacted by his arrest. The team has some surprises in store for the character of Victor Timely, but Wright remains tight-lipped to avoid spoilers.

“I think it’s a character that always can be unexpected and come from different directions,” he says.

With twists and turns in every episode, Loki Season 2 promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Don’t miss it on Disney+ every Friday.
