It is a way to become a better version of oneself, fostering confidence, attractiveness, and success. As David Bowie once said, aging is a process that allows us to become the person we were always meant to be.

We had the privilege of speaking with several LGBTQ+ individuals who shared their personal journeys of self-discovery and how style, fashion, and beauty play a role in expressing their authentic selves.
Tea Miller, who identifies as non-binary and demi-sexual panromantic, expresses themselves through a wardrobe and jewelry that leans towards masculine presenting. They believe fashion can be a form of protest and often incorporate cosplay into their style choices.
Dylan Merrett, a transgender masculine genderqueer individual who identifies as bisexual, has used fashion as a way to assert their identity. They went from exclusively hyperfeminine outfits to now dressing in a ’70s-inspired androgynous style. They even perform drag and original music as a form of self-expression.
Jeffrey Xerxes Brice, who identifies as transmasc non-binary and queer, has always had a sense of discomfort with their assigned gender. Through childhood daydreams of being male Disney characters and a desire to be born a boy, they eventually discovered their gender identity. Now, they utilize fashion and makeup as a way to express their true self.
Pride Month may be a time for celebration and awareness, but self-discovery and glow-ups are a daily part of life. By embracing and expressing our true selves, we enrich not only our own lives but the lives of those around us too.
