Reba McEntire and Dolly Parton have been friends for years, but their preferred means of communication may surprise you.
During a recent episode of “Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen,” McEntire shared that Parton doesn’t text or email; she can only be reached by fax.
When asked about her last text exchange with Parton, McEntire confirmed that Parton doesn’t engage in digital communication.
Cohen was surprised and asked if Parton could be reached by landline, to which McEntire revealed that a fax machine is the only way to contact her. This revelation shocked both Cohen and fellow guest Troye Sivan.
McEntire humorously mentioned that she once asked Kenny Rogers for Parton’s phone number. Rogers replied, “No,” leading McEntire to joke that perhaps he didn’t want to share Parton’s contact information.
Representatives for Parton did not respond to a request for comment made outside regular business hours.
McEntire and Parton are longtime friends and have cohosted the 2019 CMA Awards with Carrie Underwood. In 2011, Parton inducted McEntire into the Country Music Hall of Fame.
They have also collaborated on music, including Parton’s appearance on McEntire’s song “Does He Love You” in October 2021.
In May 2022, Miley Cyrus shared that she, too, communicates with Parton via fax. Cyrus revealed that Parton scans the fax and sends it as a text message.
Cyrus jokingly mentioned that Parton takes the time to type out the fax using a typewriter.
