The 24 Hours of Le Mans Race Ends Abruptly for Michael Fassbender

Michael Fassbender’s hopes of participating in the 24 Hours of Le Mans sports car race in France were dashed when he lost control of his Porsche and hit a tyre barrier. The Irish-German Oscar-nominated actor has been actively involved in circuit racing over the past few years, dedicating time to the sport. His racing team Proton Competition entered the race on Saturday, but Fassbender’s stint ended in tragedy on Sunday morning. The actor is part of a team comprising Estonian driver Martin Rump and Austrian professional Richard Lietz. In 2019, he participated in the Porsche Sports Cup Germany and competed in front of a hometown crowd at Rally of the Lakes in Killarney, Ireland, in celebration of the race’s 40th anniversary. Despite his setback, Fassbender has upcoming projects with director Taika Waititi and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
