Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton has released a strongly-worded letter aimed at the White House following his acquittal on state impeachment charges. Paxton, a Republican, faced accusations of corruption, bribery, and incompetence by a bipartisan group of Texas state senators. Although all 12 Democrats on the jury voted for his impeachment, along with two Republicans, the necessary two-thirds majority was not reached. Paxton was accused of misusing his political power to benefit a real estate developer, Nate Paul, who allegedly employed Paxton’s mistress Laura Olson. Additionally, Paxton faced allegations of dereliction of duty, retaliation against whistleblowers, and making false statements.
The impeachment trial concluded just before 1 p.m. on Saturday, with Paxton’s letter criticizing the Biden Administration, Texas House Speaker Dade Phelan, and the impeachment process itself. Paxton accused the White House of promoting unlawful policies and warned that they will be held accountable. The statement vowed to challenge the administration and defend the rights of Texans.
Fox News Digital has reached out to the White House for comment, but has not yet received a response.
