Rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud of the Texans emerged victorious in the inaugural Ohio State air show at Paycor Stadium on Sunday, defeating Pro Bowl quarterback Joe Burrow and the Bengals with a last-play field goal, securing a 30-27 win.
Burrow connected with slot receiver Tyler Boyd for a 64-yard catch-and-run, positioning the Bengals at the Texans 7 with 1:53 remaining. However, despite their efforts, the Bengals were unable to capitalize and the Texans won the game in the final moments.
Following a series of successful plays, Texans rookie C.J. Stroud managed to secure a victory, thanks in part to running back Devin Singletary’s impressive 150 rushing yards on 30 carries. Stroud’s exceptional performance included completing eight passes of at least 20 yards and a total of 356 passing yards on 23 of 39 attempts.
Burrow, on the other hand, threw two crucial fourth-quarter interceptions and finished with 347 passing yards on 27 of 40 attempts.
One of the turning points in the game came when Bengals cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt intercepted Stroud, leading to a touchdown that brought the Bengals within striking distance of the Texans.
