Suspects Apprehended in Shootings of Three Victims Inside Vehicles

Authorities in Pasadena announced on Wednesday that a total of six individuals have been apprehended in connection with a double homicide that occurred on Monday in Rancho Palos Verdes, as well as another murder that took place on Saturday in the Pasadena area.

The suspects have yet to be identified by investigators, who have cited the ongoing nature of the investigation as the reason. Lieutenant Keith Gomez of the Pasadena Police Department revealed during a press conference on Wednesday that the suspects are believed to be part of a larger group that specializes in robbing individuals parked in scenic turnouts. It is worth noting that the victims are typically caught off guard and distracted when these attacks occur.

Gomez also shared that four firearms were seized in the process of making the arrests.

According to Gomez, the primary basis for the arrests is related to the murder of 32-year-old Jessie Munoz, who was fatally shot while driving a vehicle that subsequently crashed along Angeles Crest Highway near mile marker 28.36. Munoz succumbed to his injuries at the scene of the incident.

Careful examination conducted by Pasadena police detectives has led them to conclude that the shooting of Munoz was the result of an attempted robbery.

During the press conference, Gomez informed reporters that there appears to be a connection between Munoz’s murder and the deaths of a man and a woman who were discovered with fatal gunshot wounds in Rancho Palos Verdes on Monday morning.

Upon arrival at the 7000 block of Palos Verdes Drive, deputies discovered the bodies of 36-year-old Jorge Ramos and 26-year-old TaylorRaven Whittaker inside a parked Subaru sedan. The vehicle exhibited numerous bullet holes.

Gomez refrained from providing specific details regarding the alleged link between the two cases, acknowledging that the investigation conducted by the sheriff’s department is still ongoing. However, he repeatedly emphasized that investigators firmly believe that the shootings are connected.

The suspects were taken into custody Tuesday night within the Panorama City vicinity, according to Gomez.
