Suspected Intoxicated Gunman Apprehended in Long Beach

A 47-year-old man was apprehended for purportedly brandishing a handgun to a woman at a dining establishment in Long Beach on Sunday morning, and subsequently discharging the weapon while under the influence of alcohol, as stated by authorities.

According to the Long Beach Police Department, a woman was seated at the bar of a restaurant located in the 6300 block of East Pacific Coast Highway when the suspect inappropriately touched her arm. When the woman voiced her disapproval, the suspect proceeded to flaunt a firearm, which he later concealed in his waistband before departing from the premises. Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 12:55 a.m. on Sunday.

At around 1:10 a.m., officers were dispatched to a shooting report without any victims in the 7100 block of Marina Pacifica Drive, whereupon they encountered a suspect who matched the description provided by a witness.

“The suspect was apprehended, and a firearm was discovered on his person,” stated the police. “The suspect exhibited signs of being inebriated.”

Police officials collected evidence, including shell casings and impact marks, at the scene.

Subsequently, it was established that the suspect was the same individual who had previously brandished the firearm at the restaurant.

No injuries were reported in either incident.

Roberto Morsquera, the suspect, was arrested on charges of menacing exhibition of a firearm, sexual battery, public intoxication, and negligent discharge of a firearm. His bail was set at $25,000.
