The search is currently underway on Sunday for an individual who is accused of kidnapping his girlfriend’s 11-month-old son. Fortunately, the baby was found unharmed. Adonis Childress, aged 30, allegedly took Jeremiah Montgomery at approximately 10 a.m. on Saturday in West Hills. The California Highway Patrol issued an alert to ensure the safe return of the baby.
Although the baby was found on Saturday night, Childress remains at large as confirmed by the Los Angeles police.
The kidnapping incident occurred following a series of events that began around 8 a.m. on Saturday. According to the police, Childress and the baby’s mother engaged in a verbal dispute that escalated into a physical attack. Childress allegedly choked her and punched her multiple times, causing her to lose consciousness and breaking her nose.
Childress then drove the injured woman to a hospital at 10 a.m. in the 7300 block of Medical Center Drive in West Hills. However, he left with the baby, the woman’s cell phone, and her car. Despite numerous pleas from the woman and her family, Childress refused to return the child.
Details regarding the exact location and manner in which the baby was found have not been disclosed.
Authorities confirmed that Childress was in a romantic relationship with the baby’s mother, although he is not the biological father. Additionally, he is an active gang member and is considered to be dangerous and armed, according to CHP investigators.
Childress is described as a 6-foot-2-inch tall Black man weighing 195 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white tank top, blue shorts, and white socks with black sandals.
