Authorities have apprehended a 29-year-old suspect in connection with the death of a man in Redondo Beach. The incident occurred after an altercation, leading the suspect’s vehicle to collide with multiple parked cars. The Redondo Beach Police Department has stated that the suspect, identified as Donavan Lamont Walter, has been released pending further investigation and filing consideration by the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident was reported around 10:09 p.m. on Sunday at the intersection of Beryl Street and North Broadway. Officers arrived at the scene to find a vehicle collision. The driver was attended to by paramedics and later transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, where the suspect was pronounced dead.
As detectives conducted a preliminary investigation, they discovered that the victim had been involved in an altercation at a nearby parking lot on 181 N. Harbor Drive. It is suspected that the victim sustained severe injuries during the altercation, which may have led to his death.
The investigation led detectives to locate and arrest the suspect, Donavan Lamont Walter. He was booked at the Redondo Beach Police Department jail. It is worth noting that Walter’s last known address was in Virginia.
