An individual, age 31, is currently in custody for his alleged participation in a robbery case involving two women. The incident took place in Rancho Mirage, where a victim was enticed into a vehicle and subsequently robbed.
Nicholas Tyler Young from Palm Springs was apprehended in Cathedral City on Wednesday. He is suspected of parole violation, robbery, and conspiracy, as per Sergeant Jeff Cryder of the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.
Sgt. Cryder mentioned that deputies from the Palm Desert sheriff’s station responded to a robbery report in an unincorporated area near Thousand Palms on Saturday.
According to Cryder, it is alleged that a woman, who was at a facility on Bob Hope Drive, initiated contact with the victim who was subsequently enticed into a vehicle in the parking lot. Upon entering the vehicle, two other suspects were present, and they drove away with the victim.
“Upon reaching the area of Ramon Road and Thousand Palms Canyon Road, the driver of the vehicle produced a black semi-automatic handgun and demanded all of the victim’s possessions,” Cryder stated.
The driver, described as a tattooed man, accompanied by two women (one in her 30s and the other in her 40s), remains at large. Young, identified as the alleged driver, was arrested and taken into custody.
The Rancho Mirage Special Enforcement Team apprehended Young during a traffic stop on Ramon Road. He is currently held at the John J. Benoit Detention Center in Indio, with no eligibility for bail.
