  • A devoted fan of the Kansas City Chiefs financed his passion through a series of bank robberies, as revealed by the Justice Department.
  • Xaviar Michael Babudar, also known as “ChiefsAholic,” has been charged with 19 counts by a federal court.
  • He is now facing allegations of financial crimes spanning across four states.

A man renowned for his presence at Kansas City Chiefs games, donning a wolf costume, may soon find himself in an orange jumpsuit instead.

A federal grand jury has indicted 29-year-old Xaviar Michael Babudar on 19 charges, accusing him of various financial thefts, according to the US Attorney’s Office of the Western District of Missouri.

“Babudar funded his ability to attend these games and maintain his lifestyle through a series of bank and credit union robberies in 2022,” states the press release. “He then laundered the stolen money through local casinos and used the proceeds to attend multiple Chiefs games, both at home and away.”

Matthew T. Merryman, Babudar’s attorney, has not yet responded to Insider’s request for comment.

“We are now in the fourth quarter of the most crucial game of Xaviar’s life,” Merryman told the Associated Press. “We firmly believe that his innocence will eventually be proven to the public, and we are confident that once all the facts are known, he will be exonerated in the eyes of his supporters, admirers, and the Chiefs Kingdom.”

According to the Justice Department, the indictment against Babudar includes three counts of armed bank robbery, one count of bank theft, 11 counts of money laundering, and four counts of transporting stolen property across state lines.

Babudar is accused of stealing nearly $700,000 from banks and credit unions in Iowa, Nebraska, Tennessee, and Oklahoma, as stated in the press release.
