Experience the vibrant streets of South Los Angeles like never before during the highly anticipated CicLAvia-South LA event. On Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., over six miles of roads will transform into a car-free zone, allowing residents and visitors to explore the diverse neighborhoods by foot, bike, or other eco-friendly modes of transportation.
The route stretches from Vermont Avenue and Exposition Boulevard, heading south to Jesse Owens Park at Century and Western Avenue. Along the way, you’ll find four designated hubs that serve as pit stops filled with amenities. These hubs offer an array of conveniences, including food trucks, free water stations, restrooms, first-aid stations, secure bike parking, complimentary bike repair services, and even free pedicabs provided by AARP.
Make sure to check out the following hub locations:
– Expo Park Hub, located at 3775 S. Vermont Ave.
– Vermont Slauson Hub, situated at 5928 S. Vermont Ave.
– Westmont Hub, positioned at 8805 S. Vermont Ave.
– Juneteenth Hub, found at 1875 W. Century Blvd.
While motorized vehicles are not allowed on the route, you are encouraged to walk, bike, skate, or utilize any human-powered equipment to navigate the streets. Please note that electric vehicles like scooters or hoverboards are not permitted.
Joining forces with the annual Juneteenth Celebration and Resource Fair at Jesse Owens Park, this CicLAvia event offers an extra layer of excitement. Immerse yourself in a free community event featuring live performances, delectable food trucks, engaging activities, and access to various community and county services, such as on-site record expungement, mental health support, tenant protection assistance, and much more.
Before embarking on your journey, be sure to attend the kickoff news conference at 8:30 a.m. at Jesse Owens Park. Esteemed guests including Mayor Karen Bass, county Supervisor Holly Mitchell, and other local dignitaries will share their thoughts and insights.
