Steph McGovern, the renowned TV presenter and host of Steph’s Packed Lunch, revealed in an interview with Prima magazine that the ultimate compliment she receives is when people express their desire to have a casual conversation over a pint with her. Despite her fame and success, Steph strives to maintain her down-to-earth nature, considering her “unique selling point” to be her relatability.
As the cover star for the September edition of Prima, Steph opened up about her commitment to staying true to her roots and addressing significant issues on her Channel 4 show. She also shared her aspirations of someday participating in BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing.
Steph expressed, “The best compliment I ever get is when someone says, ‘I want to go for a pint with Steph’. That’s the vibe I want to give, and it’s the thing I always try to remember about staying normal.” She firmly believes that her success lies in never losing sight of her identity and always being able to connect with her audience on a genuine level.
While discussing her journey, Steph acknowledged that during her childhood, she often sought approval from others by playing the class clown while simultaneously excelling academically. When she embarked on her career at the BBC, she remained undeterred by her unique qualities and received advice to simply be herself.
Before launching Steph’s Packed Lunch, Steph made appearances on various BBC television and radio shows. Last year, she even participated in ITV’s The Masked Dancer. Despite her keen interest in joining Strictly, she shared that the timing hasn’t been right due to her commitment to her current show and her desire to be present for her daughter. Nevertheless, she expressed hope that the opportunity may arise in the future.
