Sir Keir Starmer has challenged Rishi Sunak to immediately call for a general election, citing the Prime Minister’s loss of control amidst Tory conflicts surrounding Boris Johnson’s resignation honours list.
During Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons, the leader of the Labour Party emphasized that the public is suffering the consequences of having Mr. Sunak in power.
Sir Keir urged the Prime Minister to put an end to the “Tory chaos” and “summon a general election at once.” However, Mr. Sunak rebutted, claiming that “only the Conservatives can truly deliver for the people of Britain.”
Sir Keir conveyed to Mr. Sunak: “If he dedicated as much time to the economy, the NHS, and the asylum system as he does to bargaining with his predecessors over honours, our country would be in a significantly better condition.
But once again, he has lost control, and once again, it is the working class who bear the brunt. If he disagrees, why not put it to the test? Cease the bragging, the excuses, and the Tory chaos. Let’s see if he can finally find someone, anyone, anywhere to vote for him and call for a general election right now.”
Mr. Sunak responded: “We are diligently delivering for our nation. We have achieved unprecedented employment rates and the swiftest wage growth in years. It is crystal clear that only the Conservatives are capable of delivering for the people of Britain.”
